Llull Machines create audio-visual artefacts with live digital drawings/projections on an iPad app Tagtool and live electronic music.

These artefacts are neither “live animation”, nor “live drawings with the music accompaniment”, nor “visuals to accompany electronic music”. Our means of work are surprisingly similar; we both use all ten fingers.

In the manner of its operation Tagtool resembles an electronic music instrument – part synthesizer, part sampler. Everything is created in real time, no templates or preparations are used, Grundik’s setups and approaches are as painterly or sculpturally as musical. Occasionally, we collaborate with video artists or other musicians. And so, new dimension arise. We explore. We evolve daily. We are alive.

Danil Gertman primary see himself as a traditional painter, but he also works on installations, performances, animation, design, architecture and various combinations between them. In 2008 he was awarded Young artist Prize in Art and Design by Ministry of Science, Culture and Sport of Israel. Nominee of European festivals for visual effects and animation art.

Grundik Kasyansky is a London-based musician who works in experimental improvisation, live installation, audio collage, and designs sound for dance, theatre and film. He wrote poetry before switching to electronic music and it deeply influenced his current practice. He is a founding member of the pioneering Israeli experimental electronic duo Grundik and Slava.

The live shows are a surreal, “live cinema” experience, combining projected animations with the electronic soundtracks and a live vocals performance.

The show “No Man’s Land” has been presented in cinema, theatre and gallery spaces, including Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland Moving Image Centre, and the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art, and their music videos have been screened on The Arts Channel on Sky TV New Zealand, as well as festivals including NEON digital arts Festival Scotland and the London Independent Film Festival.

In 2012, Fiona was granted funding through Creative Scotland to make new audio/visual collaborative work, and these new pieces form part of the live show, as well as being included on the latest audio release, the “Tower Of Babel” EP, which was released in Nov 2012 on the Black Lantern Music netlabel.

“Stylish, elegant and sinister…obscure electronica, minimal beats and exotic voice merge seamlessly with animated visuals to evolve into a multi-media artwork.” (New Zealand Herald).
