<h2><br><br>FOTONICA festival is an audiovisual event based in Rome. The 2020 edition will take place in a fully virtual format, on Twitch and in Virtual Reality.<br><br></h2>

<h3>A special online edition offering an alternative way of enjoying the numerous audiovisual artists involved from all over the world.<br><br></h3>

<p>The festival is organised by the same ensemble that has been delivering the massive audiovisual artists meeting LPM, since 2004. Flyer SRL, Linux Club and FLxER.net are also behind Live Cinema Festival, the boutique event we attended (physically!) back in September. </p>

<h3>Fotonica features a wide focus on the audiovisual arts, embracing the many features and different expressions within the new media.<br><br></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fotonica_Ultravioletto-1024x576.jpg" alt="Fotonica - Audiovisual event" class="wp-image-10540" srcset="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fotonica_Ultravioletto-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fotonica_Ultravioletto-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fotonica_Ultravioletto-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fotonica_Ultravioletto.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption><code>Ultravioletto</code></figcaption></figure>

<p>Not just performances and VJ sets but also installations, lectures and workshops. In each edition, Fotonica offers a space for both artistic networking and outreach of new audiences.</p>

<h4>This year, the organizers have created a virtual environment and live streaming channel where it is possible to discover and to participate in a safe, interactive and innovative way. <br><br></h4>

<p>The team behind Fotonica is very conscious of the importance of international partnerships. This year the festival is collaborating with <a href="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/interview-to-adaf/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Athens Digital Art Festival</a> , Lunchmeat Festival, Cerrado Mapping Festival, <a href="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/2020/10/06/live-cinema-festival/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Live Cinema Festival</a>, Cairotronica, Bright Festival and <a href="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/system-11-vjing-competition" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">System11</a>.</p>

<h4>Therefore the event does not offer simple entertainment. Fotonica is a valuable hub for all audiovisual artists to keep inspiring and being inspired. Even from their own studios.<br><br></h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="577" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fotonica_Coldcut-1024x577.jpg" alt="Fotonica Festival: Online 11-20 December 2020" class="wp-image-10539" srcset="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fotonica_Coldcut-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fotonica_Coldcut-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fotonica_Coldcut-768x433.jpg 768w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fotonica_Coldcut.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption><code>Coldcut</code></figcaption></figure>

<p>Arte19VVR VR Rooms will host the digital exhibitions, VR Mapping, lecture and live AV performances through VJTelevision and Twitch. Workshops, lectures and talks will take place on Meet and Zoom.</p>

<p>A full array of digital and virtual platforms to maintain the audiovisual event alive, despite the second wave Covid restrictions. </p>

<h4>Hence the organizers are sending an important message to the audience: arts have to adapt to any arising scenario leveraging the full creative potential of the latest technologies.<br><br></h4>

<h3><br><br>PRECTXE introduce themselves as “Art, Installation, Audiovisual, Electronic, Experimental, in Korea”. Straightforward tags. <br><br></h3>

<h5>This year’s edition started just a month ago under the theme “duplicate your dream”, inviting us to question and explore whether technological means allow the artist&#8217;s dreams (images) and feelings to be duplicated and reproduced by other human beings. <br><br></h5>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="723" height="1024" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/pretectxe-2020-723x1024.jpg" alt="Prectxe2020flyer" class="wp-image-10510" srcset="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/pretectxe-2020-723x1024.jpg 723w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/pretectxe-2020-212x300.jpg 212w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/pretectxe-2020-768x1087.jpg 768w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/pretectxe-2020-1085x1536.jpg 1085w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/pretectxe-2020-1447x2048.jpg 1447w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/pretectxe-2020-scaled.jpg 1808w" sizes="(max-width: 723px) 100vw, 723px" /></figure>

<p><br>It offers a fairly large programme with an installation/exhibition “Xplo-&#8221; an electronic/experimental music live showcase “Electro Flow” and an audiovisual performance showcase “1001 Odyssey”.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>The artworks curated for PRECTXE2020’s exhibition include a good amount of 3D animation, VR and AR. National and international artists share their personal experiences and reflections on very diverse subjects. For example, we find the self-explanatory VR piece with interactive 3D CGI &#8220;AYAHUASCA Kosmic Journey&#8221;. Why not. <br><br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe data-placeholder-image="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/complianz/placeholders/youtubewgLh5V3mgm0-maxresdefault.jpg" class=" cmplz-placeholder-element cmplz-iframe cmplz-iframe-styles cmplz-video cmplz-hidden " data-src-cmplz="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wgLh5V3mgm0?feature=oembed" title="PRECTXE : SHOWCASE vol.2 1001 Odyssey" width="1080" height="608" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/plugins/complianz-gdpr/assets/video/youtube-placeholder.mp4?cmplz=1" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div><figcaption>1001 Odyssey Audiovisual Live | PRECTXE </figcaption></figure>

<p><br><br>Their live performance line up include an attractive variety of visual and sound artists and collectives. Following the space&#8217;s interest in the interdisciplinarity of art and science, the audiovisual content of the festival also deals with topics related to nature, humans and the planetary. This gives us the chance to get to know the exciting Korean audiovisual art scene. </p>

<p></p>

<h5><strong>Great news! </strong>All the performances will be available to watch online for 10 days from tomorrow (December 4th &#8211; 13th that is). I am positively surprised to find out some of the artists we have recently covered are part of the line up, such as <a href="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/2020/11/18/amelie-duchow/">Amelie Duchow</a>, <a href="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/2020/12/01/extrascan/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Marco Monfardini</a> or <a href="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/2020/09/28/junichi-akagawa/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Junichi Akagawa</a>.</h5>

<p>Don&#8217;t miss Korean artist groups COR3A, Artexte and KnovCompile, whose appearance in <a href="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/2020/09/07/mutek-montreal/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MUTEK 21</a> as part of MUTEK Connect B39 last September can be described as mind blowing. And just cool.<br><br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/knovcompile-mutek-2020.jpg" alt="KnovCompile performance MUTEK 21" class="wp-image-10512" srcset="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/knovcompile-mutek-2020.jpg 1024w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/knovcompile-mutek-2020-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/knovcompile-mutek-2020-768x576.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>KnovCompile AV performance | MUTEK 21 | screenshot by Sumire Moncholi</figcaption></figure>

<p><br><br>AV artists who have taken part of previous PRECTXE editions include Ryoichi Kurokawa or Julien Bayle.<br><br>On top of their art programme, educational activities such as workshops are running throughout the year, promoting creative thinking and encouraging visitors to discover their individual artistic potential.</p>

<h5>The industrial legacy of the building might not quite be what makes this space unique. There are plenty of examples of &#8220;industrial building turns into an art space&#8221;, such as Kraftwerk in Berlin (former power station) where Atonal festival takes place, or de Electriciteitsfabriek in the Hague (former electricity plant) which has hosted TodaysArt festival. <br></h5>

<p>Do let us know of any other buildings and spaces you may want to share! <br><br><br>Find out more about <a href="https://b39.space/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">B39.space</a> and <a href="http://www.prectxe.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">PRECTXE festival</a> (and bless Google Translate if you are not familiar to the language! :). </p>

<h2><br><br>The Farnesina Digital Art Experience turns into a multimedia itinerant exhibition showcasing 14 Italian audiovisual artists across Europe from 2020 to 2022.<br><br></h2>

<h3>The project kicked off in 2019 in Rome with a spectacular showcase of mapping projections on the Facade of the Palazzo della Farnesina.<br><br></h3>

<p>The Italian studios selected by The Farnesina Digital Art Experience are: Antaless Visual Design, Antica Proietteria, Apparati Effimeri, FLxER, Kanaka Studio, Luca Agnani Studio, Michele Pusceddu, Monogrid, Mou Factory, Olo Creative Farm, OOOPStudio, Pixel Shapes, The Fake Factory e WöA Creative Company.</p>

<p>During this difficult year for all arts, the organizers set a new phase for the audiovisual arts project, turning it into an itinerant showcase of the best in the Italian audiovisual arts.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Bright-Festival-Connect-Farnesina-Digital-Art-Experience-1024x576.jpg" alt="Farnesina Digital Art Experience - Audiovisual artists" class="wp-image-10393"/></figure>

<p>The audiovisual exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Bright Festival Connect.</p>

<h3>Against all pandemic odds the world premiere of the expo took place in Leipzig on the 23rd of October during the Bright Festival Connect. <br><br></h3>

<p>The exhibition in Leipzig is promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin and will be open to the public until the 9th of May 2021.</p>

<h4>There wasn&#8217;t a better venue to host the event than the Kunstkraftwerk in Leipzig, former power plant from the early 1900s then turned into the first digital arts German museum.<br><br></h4>

<p>The audiovisual artists didn&#8217;t waste the creative opportunities offered by the industrial surroundings.</p>

<h4>In fact, The Farnesina Digital Art Experience delivers a dramatic multimedia experience to the audience. A true sensorial bath featuring a 360° immersive audiovisual projection breaking all boundaries between artwork and user.<br><br></h4>

<p>The Kunstkraftwerk will also host other immersive art pieces, interactive installations, mix-media sculptures, live performances and light art shows. The main goal is to encourage visitors to interact with new technologies and discover cutting-edge and futuristic artistic expressions .</p>

<h5>The The Farnesina Digital Art Experience proves once more the possibilities of audience engagement offered by the audiovisual arts installations. <br><br></h5>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="575" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/The-Fake-Factory-1024x575.jpg" alt="Farnesina Digital Art Experience - Immersive Installation" class="wp-image-10390" srcset="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/The-Fake-Factory-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/The-Fake-Factory-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/The-Fake-Factory-768x431.jpg 768w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/The-Fake-Factory.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption><code>Credits: The Fake Factory</code></figcaption></figure>

<h4>It also restresses how we can rethink our way of experiencing arts, while also respecting the COVID related health regulations. <br><br></h4>

<p>Experiencing immersive arts can be done in total safety when planning has been done thoroughly and followed to the letter. </p>

<h5>Shutting down museums and art galleries is possibly the easiest solution, but not so viable when we look at museum sustainability and cultural enrichment for the citizens.<br><br></h5>

<h2><br><br>Live Cinema Festival showcases internationally recognized audiovisual artists in Rome over eight days of workshops, symposia and performances.<br><br></h2>

<h3>LCF reaches its 7th edition this year and we are glad the organizers managed to go ahead despite the all the Covid restrictions. <br><br></h3>

<h3>Live Cinema Festival is part of an important network of international audiovisual projects including the LPM, The AV Node, The VJ Television and many more.<br><br></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Live-Cinema-Festival-Flyer-1024x576.jpg" alt="Live Cinema Festival - Audiovisual Event" class="wp-image-10186" srcset="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Live-Cinema-Festival-Flyer-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Live-Cinema-Festival-Flyer-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Live-Cinema-Festival-Flyer-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Live-Cinema-Festival-Flyer-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Live-Cinema-Festival-Flyer.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h4>The main feature of this Italian AV get-together is the high focus on the concept of synaesthesia, the ability to merge senses that aren&#8217;t normally connected.<br><br></h4>

<p>We consider this particular neural condition as the main artistic trait that distinguish the audiovisual art form from cinema or pure video art, both utilizing sound and images as main expressive vectors.</p>

<h4>The Audiovisual artist designs the sound and the image-in-movement experience in sync, not just rhythmically but also emotionally. When the two senses are artistically connected an immersive experience is built for the audience. <br><br></h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_1849-1024x683.jpg" alt="Live Cinema Festival" class="wp-image-10187"/></figure>

<p>More specifically the practice of Live Cinema seeks to break the linearity of the film narration through the artistic improvisation.</p>

<p>By connecting sounds and images over the live performance, the unpreventable storytelling opens up to chance, artist inspiration and feedback from the audience. </p>

<h4>Live Cinema Festival 2020 features important audiovisual artists like Tarik Barri, Amelie Duchow and Maotik over 12 live performances.<br><br></h4>

<h4>Each evening performance is preceded by the&nbsp;Symposium&nbsp;on&nbsp;“What is synesthesia?”, a&nbsp;meeting&nbsp;in which&nbsp;authors, curators and artists&nbsp;of international standing are invited to discuss the topic of synaesthesia and the relationship between sound and image.<br><br></h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="682" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG__6850-1024x682.jpg" alt="Live Cinema Festival - Audiovisual Event" class="wp-image-10179" srcset="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG__6850-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG__6850-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG__6850-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG__6850-900x600.jpg 900w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG__6850.jpg 1097w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Before each performance, it is also possible to enjoy the&nbsp;video installation “Machine for Living”&nbsp;by the Canadian artist&nbsp;Sabrina Rattè, a series of videos that investigate the architecture of the new cities and the brutalist residential buildings around Paris.</p>

<p>Furthermore, the Sala Ellittica hosts a special section dedicated to Italian artists,&nbsp;Live Cinema Made in Italy ,&nbsp;from Sunday the 11th to Wednesday the 14th of October.</p>

<p>The program is then enriched by the educational offer of Live Cinema Festival. On October 9, The workshop curated by Algo:Ritmi kicks off. It will cover the topic of Digital Storytelling and Virtual Reality over the span of 4 days.</p>

<h4>You can help them continue their incredible project simply by liking and commenting on their <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.facebook.com/todaysart/posts/10160182101036978" target="_blank">Facebook</a> or <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CF64ZB5FQHY/?igshid=ay8ssvd35zki" target="_blank">Instagram</a>. Find more information about the call on TodaysArt social media posts.<br><br><br></h4>

<p>Hundreds of artists, partners, collaborators and people who took part or feel part of the community have already reacted to their call and shown their support.<br><br>We want to share our understanding of these extremely difficult times, and show our support. We encourage anyone who feels part of the audiovisual scene and creative arts community to like, share and comment to prevent them from disappearing. </p>

<p>Their efforts to create a truly international and multidisciplinary network are invaluable. We truly believe &#8211; and so do many partners and artists from all disciplines and parts of the world &#8211; that their absence would mean an irreversible damage to the beautiful audiovisual art world we have now. </p>

<p>Moreover, their proactive nature in creating a space for inspiration and exchange needs to be spread to improve our current social and political dynamics and the world as a whole. Supporting them means supporting artists, their diversity and representation. <br></p>

<h2><br><br>Aavistus festival is the first event focusing on audiovisual arts and VJ culture in Finland.<br><br></h2>

<h3>The festival has been founded by a group of VJs with the goal of outreaching new audiences and promoting collaboration among audiovisual artists.<br><br></h3>

<h4>As you know we are always happy to add a new pinpoint on the Audiovisual map we have been building since 2011. Especially when it comes from a country we haven&#8217;t heard in a while from. <br><br></h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover-1024x683.jpg" alt="Aavistus Festival - Audiovisual Event in Helsinki" class="wp-image-10093" srcset="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover-900x600.jpg 900w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h5>Aavistus Festival is the result of the joint effort of local audiovisual artists and event producers to endorse VJing as an independent art form.<br><br></h5>

<p>Artists need events to showcase their work and for professional networking. As any ground-breaking form of art, the beginnings are tough due to the lack of dedicated events.</p>

<p>Vjing and audiovisual art are often misinterpreted as forms of entertainment to complement electronic music.</p>

<p>It is true that VJing especially, share the same breeding ground as electronic music. Nevertheless it quickly took its spot as an independent, varied and complex art form. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover-2-1024x683.jpg" alt="Aavistus Festival " class="wp-image-10094" srcset="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover-2-900x600.jpg 900w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Aavistus-Festival-Cover-2.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h5>Aavistus Festival responds to the specific needs of the local artistic scene bringing something fresh in Helsinki and truly ambitious, considering the overall Covid scenario and restrictions to public events.<br><br></h5>

<p>The programme includes AV live performances, VJ sets, audiovisual installations, projection mapping, workshop and panel discussions.<br></p>

<p>It will take place in multiple locations in Helsinki. Aavistus Festival organisers aim for the event to become a a truly international festival, when travel restrictions don&#8217;t stop us anymore.</p>

<p>From Audiovisual City all the best of luck to this new kid on the audiovisual events block!</p>

<h2><strong>Mutek Montreal present their audiovisual event p</strong>r<strong>ogramme in a special hybrid format as part of their edition 21.</strong><br><br></h2>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote"><p>This is a world of constant evolution and incessant refinement – the “MU” in MUTEK refers consciously to the notion of “mutation”.&nbsp;</p><cite>MUTEK team</cite></blockquote>

<h3>Year 2020. Needless to say this applies to the “special” year we are all experiencing, dare to say, more than any other year&#8230;<br><br></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="570" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/mutek-2020-Audiovisual-Performance-1-1024x570.jpg" alt="Mutek Montreal - Audiovisual event" class="wp-image-9811"/><figcaption><code>MUTEK Montreal 2019 | Photo credits: Bruno Destombes<br></code></figcaption></figure>

<h4>We find this original format with both physical and virtual events to be an interesting experimental adaptation to the Covid outbreak.<br><br></h4>

<p>Through September 8th-13th we will attend numerous events across 3 virtual stages with more than 60 performances, an interactive Gallery featuring more than 20 VR, AI, video and audio artworks, an Auditorium of master classes and lectures, and a MUTEK archives Listening Room.</p>

<p>The festival will include 19 world premiers and the participation of more than a 100 artists.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><br><br>Gogbot is an audiovisual event for creative technology, science, new media arts and music.<br><br></h2>

<h3>Out and about robots, hard-techno futuristic music, crazy bonkers live performances, audiovisual extravaganza with a general cyberpunk attitude to bond it all together. <br><br></h3>

<h3>All of this and much more is offered by Gogbot Festival, the techno-hardcore-sci-fi audiovisual event based in Netherlands.<br><br></h3>

<h4>Basically the kind of event we would go on a normal weekend if we were living in the Mad Max universe. The main aim of the event is showcasing the most avant-garde and cutting edge trends in the audiovisual and new media world. And then push a little further!<br><br></h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Gogbot-compressorhead-1024x683.jpg" alt="Gogbot - Audiovisual event" class="wp-image-9818" srcset="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Gogbot-compressorhead-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Gogbot-compressorhead-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Gogbot-compressorhead-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Gogbot-compressorhead-900x600.jpg 900w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Gogbot-compressorhead.jpg 1296w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compressorhead" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><code>Compressorhead - Animatronics Band</code></a></figcaption></figure>

<h4>There is nothing quite like Gogbot on the audiovisual scene: AI meets AV, Science meets music, art meets activism during 4 intense days of multidisciplinary activities across Enschede.<br><br></h4>

<p>Every year, the organizers propose a controversial and thought-provoking theme set to trigger reflection in the community and cutting-edge experimentation by the selected artists. Innovation in digital creativity is key and the festival creates a sonic space for this.</p>

<p>Every year, the result is an insanely powerful and immersive artistic rendez-vous that leaves a lingering impact awhile after the end of the festival.</p>

<h5>This year theme is Quantum Supremacy, a mind-blowing, controversial, but extremely urgent theme. <br><br></h5>

<h5>Big companies such as Google, Microsoft, and IBM are competing to build the first quantum computer, a ‘supercomputer’ expected to be a staggering one billion times faster than today’s best computer. What will the quantum future hold?<br><br></h5>

<p>In this Age of Pandemic, we are made acutely aware of our dependence on digital technology for work, education, and healthcare. Now more than ever, the growth of digital technology demands critical reflection. </p>

<p>Globalization and economic growth have brought us pandemic and environmental destruction. How can we break this cycle? Can we harness quantum technology to protect ourselves and the world we live in?</p>

<h2><br><br>Patchlab Festival is an audiovisual event showcasing digital arts created with the latest technologies and new media. <br><br></h2>

<h3>The theme of the 2020 edition is CONNECTED. It explores the implications of the digital revolution we are undergoing in our lives due to the pandemic. <br><br></h3>

<p>The head-spinning rise of the internet based communication during the last months is still quite hard to grasp. The internet was created originally as an effective and immediate form of communication. </p>

<h3>With the evolution of social media platforms, the world wide web is now a primary channel to express our emotions. <br><br></h3>

<h4>Audiovisual artists can help us understand the fast-changing environment we live in by visualizing the Nietzsche&#8217;s unsaid. Anything that is too complex for a total comprehension can be grasped by living the artistic experience. <br><br></h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="412" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Patchlab-Festival-Orage-Magnetique-1024x412.jpg" alt="Patchlab Festival - Audiovisual event" class="wp-image-9102"/></figure>

<p>Immersive installations, interactive artwork and live performance communicate complex statements through sensorial experience, giving us the chance to digest information slowly, at our own pace. </p>

<h5>Generative art as an antidote to the overwhelming data dump we experience everyday.<br><br></h5>

<p>Due to the uncertainty of in-person attendance, the organizers are planning the audiovisual event through virtual platforms. It will be therefore accessible to a wider audience through the experimental use of new technologies. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/patch_lab_post-1024x576.jpg" alt="Patchlab Festival - Audiovisual event" class="wp-image-10285" srcset="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/patch_lab_post-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/patch_lab_post-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/patch_lab_post-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.audiovisualcity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/patch_lab_post.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption><code>LightTank - arc/sec Lab</code></figcaption></figure>

<p>Patchlab Festival will present art projects online and via AR (augmented reality). </p>

<p>There will be experimental computer animations presented in the virtual cinema, remotely accessible workshops and also a dystopian multi-person computer game allowing the exploration of a post-apocalyptic New York. </p>

<p>The 360° Gallery will also hold the premiere of audiovisual projects from the <a href="https://www.audiovisualcity.org/360-gallery-artist-in-residence-2020/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Artist in Residence</a> #homeedition program. </p>

<p>Inspired by space and nature, the artists-residents from France, Canada and Spain will design artworks for a system of 10 projectors, which cannot only be seen on site, but also online in the 360° digital format.</p>
